Can You Sleep On Your Stomach While Pregnant?
According to OB-GYN Catherine Lynch, it should not be a problem lying on your stomach in early pregnancy, however the fact that a woman is physically not able to sleep on her stomach late in her pregnancy poses many problems. 16% of Americans (according to WedMD.com) sleep on their stomachs.
Best Position to Sleep While Pregnant
Sleeping on your side (especially the left side) is the most common and recommended position to sleep while pregnant, says Dr. Russel Turk. However, not all women are comfortable sleeping on their sides and as they get further along, not only is the side-sleeping an issue, but several other things start to get in the way of a good night’s sleep. Whether it’s the baby kicking, the urge to go to the bathroom every hour, or even the tired body after a long day, sleep is always hard to come by late in the pregnancy.
We know that once the baby is born, sleep will be nearly non-existent. So, trying to get rest before, is pertinent. There will be plenty of sleepless nights to come. Some nights will always be better than others, but by making sure you do these 10 things, rest assured that sleep will be a little bit more restful.
